Maps and zoning

This is the first draft of the Zoning Map for the new Zoning By-law. Public consultations on the draft Zoning By-law and draft Zoning Map will continue through to December 2025.  For further information about the draft Zoning By-law, please go to New Zoning By-law | Engage Ottawa.

The following storymap explains how provisions in the new Zoning By-law will take action to address these crises through implementation of policies in the Official Plan with the goal of achieving healthy, equitable communities and a more affordable city.

This interactive map of Ottawa offers a way to view the New Zoning By-law Draft 1, in relation to the Existing Zoning By-law 2008-250 as of May 2024.  Up-to-date Zoning can be viewed on  geoOttawa.

Tips for using the interactive mapping feature:  

• The Existing Zoning By-law is to the left of the map slider (the line and symbol bisecting the map) and the New Zoning By-law Draft 1 is to the right of the map slider.  Hover over the line or symbol and click to drag the slider.  Drag the slider left to see more of the New Zoning By-law Draft 1, or drag the slider right to see more of the Existing Zoning By-law.
• View or close the map legend by clicking on the button with three horizontal lines in the upper left corner of the map.
• Users can view and zoom to an area of interest by clicking on an area of the map, the Zoom to function will appear in a pop-up, or by entering an address in the address search bar. The pop-up will display the Existing Zone Code and Draft Zone Code and links to the By-law text. To view all results at that location, click on the page arrows in the pop-up.
• Display available layers, including Ward Boundaries, by clicking on the box beside each layer above the map.
• Clicking on the +/- symbols or using the scroll button on your mouse also allows users to zoom in and out.
• To pan, click on the map and hold while moving the mouse in the desired direction.
• This application works best in the Google Chrome web browser.

geoOttawa is an interactive map tool that allows you to view map layers, get information and answers about the locations in the City of Ottawa.  Search by address, intersections, streets, facilities, or park names to find a location. Many different layers of information are available such as parks, schools, City facilities, property parcels, roads, zoning and aerial photos dating back to 1928.  geoOttawa is your starting point for mapping available from the City of Ottawa.

The 1-in-100 year flood plain is the area of land which would be subject to flooding during the 1-in-100 year flood.  There is a 1% chance in any given year of a flood occurring that would meet or exceed the extent of flooding represented by the 1-in-100 year flood plain.
