REPORT RECOMMENDATION
That the Agriculture and Rural
Affairs Committee recommend Council approve appointments to the Manotick
Business Improvement Area Board of Management, as outlined in Document 1, for
the term expiring November 30, 2010.
BACKGROUND
Section 204 of the Municipal Act requires that Council appoint Business Improvement Area Board members, who hold office until the expiration of the term of the Council that appoints them. Therefore, the 2006 municipal election necessitates the appointment of new Board Members to the various BIAs.
Pursuant to their respective Terms of References, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee is mandated to make recommendations to Council with respect to appointments to the rural BIAs and the Corporate Services and Economic Development Committee is mandated to make recommendations to Council with respect to appointments to the urban and suburban BIAs.
The
nominees, who were submitted by the BIA for City Council approval, represent
the diversity of businesses in the BIA and will be actively involved in the
business community.
As
of the printing of this report, the Carp BIA has not submitted a list of recommended
appointees to its Board of Directors.
Therefore, at this time, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and
Council are only being asked to approve the requested appointments to the
Manotick BIA.

18 December 2006, City Council appointed its representatives to the various
