REPORT RECOMMENDATION
That the Corporate Services
and Economic Development Committee recommend Council approve the appointment of
Mark Kaluski to the Vanier Business Improvement Area Board of Management for the
term expiring November 30, 2010.

au Conseil municipal d’approuver la nomination de Mark Kaluski au Conseil de
gestion de la Zone d’amélioration commerciale de Vanier pour un mandat prenant
fin le 30 novembre 2010.
Section 204 of the Municipal Act,
2001 requires that the municipality appoint Business Improvement Area (BIA)
Board members.
According to its by-law (By-law No.
2792), the Vanier Business Improvement Area is entitled to “a maximum of nine
(9) members, at least one of whom shall be a member of Council”.
At its 14 December 2006 meeting,
City Council appointed Councillor Georges Bédard as its representative on the
Vanier Business Improvement Area Board of Management and at its 23 May 2007
meeting, City Council approved the appointment of seven (7) business members to
the Vanier BIA. At its 24 October 2007
meeting, City Council approved an additional appointment to fill the remaining
vacant position on the Board of Management.
In an e-mail dated 7 October 2009, the Vanier BIA advised of the resignations of Harry Ralph from the Board and asked that City Council appoint Mr. Mark Kaluski to fill the vacancy.
Mr. Kaluski will serve the balance of the term, expiring on November 30, 2010.
Consultation or recruitment of
members is undertaken by the BIA. This
is an administrative matter completed on behalf of the BIA, therefore public
consultation is not required.
There are no financial implications
related to this report.

dated 7 October 2009, which includes Mr. Kaluski’s biography and the Minutes of
the Board meeting where the BIA endorsed his nomination, is held on file with
the City Clerk
Upon approval of the report by
Council, the office of the City Clerk will notify the Vanier BIA of the
appointment.
