2012 Safer Roads Ottawa Program Workplan   

 

 

The 2012 Safer Roads Ottawa Program (SROP) implementation plan includes:

 

 

·         The delivery of an annual year-long campaign-based Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP);

·         The delivery of a major campaign on distracted driving with a focus on non-intersection single vehicle collisions;

·         The delivery of a major campaign on aggressive driving with a focus on right angle collisions;

·         The continued enhancement of community-based child car seat clinics and the City’s involvement in these clinics;

·         The exploration of a pedestrian and/or cycling diversion program wherein training would be an alternative to paying traffic tickets for specific violations;

·         Exploring/reviewing the feasibility of a by-law to provide for a one metre buffer zone between bicycles and motor vehicles, and,

·         Exploring/reviewing the feasibility of a by-law to provide for a one metre buffer zone between motorcycles and other motor vehicles.
