Summary of Complaint:
This public complaint was originally investigated as a conduct complaint under another file. The complainant appealed the disposition unsubstantiated to Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC). The OCPC upheld the conduct disposition but remitted the allegation concerning the retention of the complainant’s record of arrest back to OPS to be dealt with as a Policy/Service complaint.
Summary of Findings and Actions Taken:
The investigation determined that the Ottawa Police Service Retention and Destruction Policy is consistent with the requirements set out in the Adequacy Standards for the province of Ontario with regards to the Management of Police Records therefore, no further action will be taken with regards to this incident.

Summary of Complaint:
The complainant filed a complaint about the services provided by the OPS from the Fall of 2008 to the present. The complainant felt the Ottawa Police Service was participating in discriminatory activity; according to the complainant there is a law for the police and another one for the public.
Summary of Findings and Actions Taken:
After taking all the information into consideration the Ontario Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) chose not to investigate the complaint further and deemed it to be vexatious since the complainant has made several similar complaints in the past about the same issues.

Summary of Complaint:
The complainant alleged that when they attended the police station to obtain a background check they waited 40 minutes and were not provided correct information which resulted in a four week delay in them being able to volunteer at a grandson's nursery school.
Summary of Findings and Actions Taken:
The OIPRD classified the complaint as a service complaint and after taking all the information into consideration opted not to proceed with the complaint as it was determined to be frivolous.
