RECOMMENDATIONS

 

That the Ottawa Police Services Board receive for information the Notice of Annual General Meeting and the Resolutions to be considered at the 2014 Canadian Association of Police Governance’s Annual Conference.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The Canadian Association of Police Governance (CAPG) is holding its 25th Annual Meeting and Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, August 21-23, 2014.  Attached at Annex A is the Notice of the Annual General Meeting setting out the items of business to be considered at the meeting being held on August 22, 2014.

 

Attached at Annex B are the resolutions to be considered at the Annual General Meeting.  The resolutions were submitted by various boards belonging to the CAPG and have been reviewed by the CAPG’s Resolutions Committee.  They are being circulated to all member boards in advance of the Conference so that those attending have an opportunity to review them and receive input from their Board colleagues not attending the conference.  The Ottawa Police Services Board will be represented at the conference by Chair El-Chantiry, Member Smallwood and Executive Director Fedec.

CONCLUSION

 

An important function of the Canadian Association of Police Governance is the advocacy role it plays on behalf of its members.  The resolutions considered each year during the Annual General Meeting form the basis of the Association’s advocacy work over the coming year.  In order to provide an opportunity for all CAPG members to have input into the resolutions being considered at this year’s AGM, they have been circulated to all members.
