Introduction of new, free app for the iPhone, iPod and iPad called MyTransit-OC Transpo - the official source of OC Transpo information (bus routes, closest stops and
predicted arrival times)
·
Introduction of OC Transpo Flickr Page and a YouTube Channel (links onoctranspo.com)
·
Installation
of bike racks on buses has begun for the Rack & Roll program
·
Introduction
of bus routes (staring March 26th) that provide direct access daily
to the Central Exhibition centre
·
Notification that the OC Transpo
Business Plan would be considered by the Transit Commission at its meeting on
May 16th (tabling to occur at a special meeting prior to
consideration, date to be determined)

John Manconi, General Manager, Transit Services, highlighted the
following:

He is
continuing to review all of the key files and meeting with OC Transpo employees
·
The OC Transpo Business plan is being revised and its focus will
be on quality service
·
The St.
Laurent facility renovation will be reviewed through the business plan
·
The number
of complaints received about OC Transpo service is
significantly low in comparison to the number of customer trips provided. Going forward he will consistently recognize
and highlight the positives and the employees’ commitment to Service
Excellence, while striving to reduce the number of complaints.

That the Transit Commission receive this
report for information.
Craig Watson, a bus driver,
commented on issues the organization has been experiencing with on-time bus
arrival data, and his hope that the issues will be resolved under the new
General Manager and with changes in technology.
The report recommendation was put to the Commission
and RECEIVED.

RECOMMENDATIONS
That the Transit Commission:
1.
Approve the OC Transpo
Real-Time GPS Data Policy as described in this report; and,
2.
Delegate
authority to the General Manager of OC Transpo to
revise the OC Transpo
Live Next Bus Arrival Data Feed Application Programming Interface (API) Account
Terms of Service as necessary with a report back to the Transit Commission on
an annual basis respecting the use of this delegated authority.
Alex Lougheed, Open Data Ottawa, provided a presentation that spoke about the
process and collaboration that has taken place between the community and the
City, which has led to the City’s provision of open data. He noted his overall support for the OC Transpo
Real-Time GPS Data Policy and the Terms of Service though he was concerned that
the Application Program Interface key has a default limit set of 10,000
connections per day.
The report recommendation was put to the
Commission and CARRIED.
