Built during the Great Depression, the Mayfair Theatre is one of Canada's oldest surviving independent movie houses and one of the few surviving examples of an "atmospheric cinema."In 2008, it was declared a heritage building by the City of Ottawa for its unique architectural and cultural value to the nation's capital.
