Job Summary

Within one of the city's Long Term Care Facilities (Garry Armstrong, Carleton Lodge, Centre d'accueil Champlain or Peter D. Clark Centre) the Activities Coordinator, LTC, is responsible for implementing and facilitating a variety of recreation and leisure opportunities for residents. Duties include designing program tailored plans to resident needs, consulting with the resident, nursing staff, and other medical/professional service providers to ensure programs meet the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of residents, with an emphasis on resident safety and engagement.

Education & Experience

Two year diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology or other related field from a community college.

One (1) year of related experience working with seniors, geriatric patients/clients or long-term care residents which includes recreation planning and implementation.

*Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.

Language, Certificates & Licenses

A valid Ontario unrestricted "G" class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.

Must have own transportation for Carleton Lodge
