Job Summary

The Specialist, Transportation Services is responsible for providing project management services for department or corporate-wide projects; development, research and evaluation services concerning branch and/or department policies; process and performance improvement services; and the supervision of staff assigned to these projects.

This position will require strategic thinking and the ability to generate and develop creative ideas in line with project objectives. Furthermore, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage and report on numerous concurrent tasks. Strong organization skills are a key requirement for this position.

The primary focus for this position is to take a lead role in managing the Ready for Rail campaign project. As such, the candidate will clearly demonstrate proven project management techniques, including:
• Scheduling
• Developing detailed scope for a variety of project tasks
• Developing creative messaging
• Working closely with internal and external consultants
• Generating reports
• Preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders
• Identifying and managing risk
• Delegating and supervising personnel assigned to various tasks
• Monitoring and tracking budget expenditures
• Setting up, leading and recording project meetings
• Reviewing submissions to ensure consistent and high quality output

Education & Experience

A four (4) year university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible and practical experience managing projects of increasing complexity

Preference will be given to candidates with previous project management experience

*Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
