Ottawa – Mayor Jim Watson will be joined by City Manager Kent Kirkpatrick to host the ninth annual AccessAbility Day. The theme of this year’s event is “Building People Places by Designing Accessible Spaces.” The event includes a keynote address by, Betty Dion, an international expert inaccessible design, who has recently worked on the Ottawa Congress Centre and the New Lansdowne project.

Following the opening remarks and proclamation, design and planning experts will hold a panel discussion with the audience on how to remove barriers and design public and private buildings and spaces to be more accessible. Many of the audience members will be from the development and architectural industry – including architectural and design students from local post-secondary institutions.
