Citizen Satisfaction Survey Report 2008The Citizen Satisfaction Survey Report contains the results of public opinion research among Ottawa residents conducted in October and November 2008. Harris/Decima was commissioned to conduct this tracking study on behalf of the City of Ottawa to compare to findings from 2007, and, where applicable, to earlier research, and to achieve the following objectives:
The study consisted of both a quantitative phase (telephone survey) and a qualitative phase (focus groups). The quantitative data for this survey was collected through telephone interviews with a sample of 1,118 Ottawa residents conducted between October 9 and 22. The interviews were comprised of random samples of at least 275 from each of four regions that make up the whole of Ottawa. Aggregate data was then weighted according to Census data (age and gender). The survey also yielded representative samples of francophone residents (173, or 15%) as well as those from households where English or French is not the first language (145 or 12%). Results of a survey of this size are considered accurate to within +/-2.9%, at the 95% confidence interval. For subsets of the population, the margin of error is higher. For example, when examining results for each of the regional samples, the margin of error for each sample of 275 residents is +/-5.8%, at the 95% confidence interval.
