Project need

The City of Ottawa’s 2008 Transportation Master Plan identified the need for the widening of Jockvale Road from two to four lanes from Jock River to south of Prince of Wales Drive to accommodate future growth and development in the Nepean South Urban Community. The City completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the widening of Jockvale Road in 2009. The EA recommended the widening of Jockvale Road from a 2-lane rural to a 4-lane urban cross-section with realignment of the Jockvale Road and Prince of Wales intersection.

Construction of the section of Jockvale Road from Jock River to Cambrian Road is complete. Construction of the section of Jockvale Road from Cambrian Road to south of Prince of Wales Drive is identified in the 2013 Transportation Master Plan for implementation in 2020-2025.

Project timing and public involvement

The first public information session is anticipated to occur in early 2016 at the outset of the Preliminary Design. The Preliminary Design is anticipated to be complete in Summer 2016 with the Detailed Design anticipated to be complete in late 2016.
