Over the coming months, construction work will take place to rehabilitate the watermain and road structure on Woodcrest Road between Kilborn Avenue East and Kilborn Avenue West.
Who: C.A.C.E. Construction, hereinafter referred to as the Contractor, will complete the work.
What: The work will include the replacement of the existing watermain and water services to the property line, as well as, full reconstruction of the road structure (including installation of mountable curbs and gutters), and minor local surface drainage improvements.
Why: The existing watermain is nearing the end of its service life and requires replacement due to a high break rate. The road structure also is in poor condition, with minor surface drainage issues.
When: This work will begin in mid to late April 2016 and will be substantially completed in October 2016. Surface course asphalt and soft landscaping reinstatements will primarily be completed in spring 2017.
Where: The work will primarily be occurring within the Woodcrest Road municipal right-of-way between Kilborn Avenue E. and Kilborn Avenue W. Works will also take place where Woodcrest Road intersects with Kilborn Avenue (E/W), Braeside Avenue, and Caton Street, as the new watermain will be connected to the existing watermains on these streets.
The Contractor will assume full responsibility for the construction work in its entirety. The Contractor will be permitted to close Woodcrest Road to the local traffic only during construction, with appropriate measures put in place to permit the safe passage of pedestrians through the construction zone. The Contractor will take every precaution to minimize disruptions to your community, but as you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the course of the construction work, such as delays when travelling through the construction zone. Also, residents adjacent to the construction site may feel vibrations at their residence due to the use of heavy equipment needed to complete this work. This is quite common and not usually a problem. We would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation.
Temporary water services
During the watermain renewal project, your property will be placed on a temporary water service. While your property will be on this temporary service, your water usage will be estimated since the temporary service is not metered. Your water bill will be based on your past average water usage.
