As you are likely aware, construction is underway for the extension of the West Transitway between Holly Acres Road and Moodie Drive. In order to facilitate the Contractor’s installation of a watermain service and fire hydrant for the new Moodie Transit, Corkstown Road will be closed during the daytime period for two consecutive days, beginning on May 8, 2017. The road will be open during the overnight hours.
Who: The Contractor, Karson Konstruction, is responsible for the West Transitway Extension project.
Why: The road closure is required to complete the installation of a watermain service and fire hydrant. Due to the location of the existing watermain and the space required for the Contractor’s equipment, the closure of the roadway will ensure that public safety is maintained and existing utilities are protected.
What: Corkstown Road will be fully closed during the daytime period from west of the Abbott Point of Care facility at 185 Corkstown Road to east of Moodie Drive. Local access from east to the Abbott Point of Care facility at 185 Corkstown Road and all residences located west of Crystal Beach Drive along Corkstown Road will be maintained at all times. Signage will be installed at key intersections notifying motorists of the closure and a signed detour route will be provided via Moodie Drive, Crystal Beach Drive and Carling Avenue. A pedestrian and cyclist facility will be maintained at all times through the construction zone along Corkstown Road.
When: The road closure will be in-place from May 8 and May 9, 2017. The roadway will be re-opened to traffic as soon as the Contractor has completed the work.
Where: Corkstown Road will be closed between Abbott Point of Care and Moodie Drive.
Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. The City makes every effort to provide access through and around construction sites. If you require special accommodation, please contact the On-Site Inspector or the Contractor’s representative.
