Planning for Ontario Early Years Child and Family Centres

The Ontario Ministry of Education is transforming the way services for children 0 to 6 years are delivered in the province. In 2018, all child and family programs funded by the Province will become part of one unified system of services and supports for children ages 0 to 6 and their families. These will be called Ontario Early Years Child and Family Centres (OEYCFCs).

The new centres will offer programs and services for children ages 0 to 6 and their caregivers, including playgroups, information workshops for parents, and referrals to specialized services.

To plan and prepare for the change to the OEYCFCs, the City of Ottawa is looking at the needs, gaps and opportunities in our community. So far we have:

  • Created an OEYCFC Planning and Advisory Group
  • Researched existing child and family programs that are funded by the Province
  • Conducted a demographic analysis of the population of children 0 to 6
