The remarkable accomplishments of Olympic figure skating champion Barbara Ann Scott are showcased through historic photographs, trophies and her champion gold medal.
The exhibit follows Mrs. Scott-King’s beginnings as a young figure skater at the Minto Figure Skating Club and her ascent to a national, world and Olympic champion. Mrs. Scott-King is the only woman to hold the Canadian, North American, European and World championship titles and the Olympic gold medal simultaneously in Women’s Figure Skating.
After winning the gold medal at the 5th Winter Olympic Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland in 1948, Mrs. Scott-King was referred to as Canada’s sweetheart. She was fêted with a parade and awarded the Key to the City upon her return to Ottawa.
