Heritage Power Show

Sunday, May 29 from 10 am to 4 pm

Presented by Vintage Iron Traditions of Eastern Ontario (V.I.T.E.O.)

What was life like before the fridge, stove, and washing machine were invented? Discover the Evolution of Technology at the Heritage Power Show, and explore what life was like before Netflix, smart phones, and delivery pizza. 

From horse-drawn carriages to motorized vehicles, treadle sewing machines to electric sewing machines, the Heritage Power show highlights technological advancements of the 1920s and 1930s, with a focus on advancements within the home, farm, and field.

Cost: $7.15/person $5.10/student or senior, $18.40/family

 

June

Doors Open Ottawa

Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5 from 10 am to 4 pm

Join us in celebration of the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum’s 40th anniversary! Doors Open Ottawa is an annual citywide event that celebrates our community’s heritage. We’ll be making a commemorative community quilt, planting a wildflower garden, and offering guided tours.

*English tours take place on the hour, and French tours take place on the half hour.

Fire Fighters’ Day

Sunday, June 5 from 10 am to 4 pm

Presented by the Ottawa Fire Fighters

Join us for a day of play with the Ottawa Fire Fighters! The second annual Fire Fighter’s Day will feature interactive family activities, and a day filled with relay races, tug-o-war, and hands-on activities.

Father’s Day

Sunday, June 19 from 10 am to 4 pm

Spend the day the way that Dad would enjoy most, and take a leisurely stroll around the museum to check out all of the cool tools and trades. Participate in a carpentry activity, and watch blacksmith, woodworking, and sawmill demonstrations.

July

Canada Day

Friday, July 1 from 10 am to 4 pm

Celebrate Canada Day at the museum! Bring along a picnic to enjoy on the grounds, get your face painted, test your balance on a pogo stick, and watch unicycle demonstrations. Our Canada Day celebration is sure to get you in the spirit.

Car Show

Sunday, July 10 from 10 am to 4 pm

Calling all car lovers! Stop by and admire a range of classic and vintage cars, chat with car exhibitors, and hang out in our vintage garage and play an over-sized game of checkers. Kids will love taking part in the kids drive-in, where they will make their own cardboard car and “drive-in” to watch cartoons!

All Aboard!

Sunday, July 24 from 10 am to 4 pm

Travel the "rails" at the museum. Punch your "ticket" at each stop.  Enjoy a different activity or game at each stop!

August

Vintage Stock Theatre - Murder Mystery

Saturday, August 6 at 6 pm and Sunday, August 14 at 5 pm

Presented by Vintage Stock Theatre

It's 1948, and folk in a small village are feeling more cheerful now with the war ended and hoping life will get back to normal. They turn out to a "Welcome Back Tea" for one of their own who joined up and is finally coming home, with a wife and a butler. But his arrival sparks questions - why was he so late coming back? couldn't he come home for his father's funeral? why does he appear to argue with just about everyone? Mayhem and death ensue before the puzzles are answered, in "Murder Indeed Sir." Not suitable for children.

Summertime Explorers: Creepy Crawlies

August 7 from 10 am to 4 pm

Explore the world of insects, bugs and spiders! Climb through the giant “spider web” without getting caught, go on a bug hunt and collect different kinds of bugs to create a personalized terrarium, and make origami insects.

Drive-In Movie - The Adventures of Robin Hood

Saturday, August 27 - gates open at 6:30 pm

The Adventures of Robin Hood, the classic tale of the Legend of Robin Hood, who stole from the rich and gave to the poor is coming to the big screen! Enjoy the atmosphere of a classic drive-in along with our vintage concession stand and learn about how stunts from the movie were done. Fire an arrow at our archery range, and capture a selfie with Robin Hood, Maid Marion, and a bard of Merry Men!

Cost: $10 / adult; $5 / student; Free – children under 5 years of age OR $30 / carload – maximum 5 people / vehicle - additional people, ie.6 or more people / carload - $5 / person (no charge for children under 5 years of age); $5 / person for walk-ins; No memberships or special passes

 

Fall into Harvest

Saturday, September 3 & Sunday, September 4 from 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday, September 10 & Sunday, September 11 from 10 am to 4 pm

It’s Harvest Time!

Join us for our Fall Into Harvest event and harvest produce from our gardens, including sunflowers, potatoes and pumpkins, go through the corn maze, learn to identify apples and herbs, see demonstrations of agricultural machinery and enjoy a corn boil!

The museum is open from May 8 to October 30 on Wednesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Times may vary for special events and programs. Be sure to check all listings for more details. We're open for Christmas with our special Vintage Village of Lights, too.

Families (2 adults and all of your children under 18 years) - $18.40
Annual Family Membership $35.75 (2 adults and all of your children under 18 years).
Children 5 and under are free.

Group rates available upon request. Non-resident fees applicable for registered courses. Additional fees may be applicable to some special events and programs.

Driving Directions and Map

Only 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Cumberland Heritage Village Museum is located in the charming Village of Cumberland.

From Ottawa
  • Take highway 417 east to highway 174 (Orléans/Rockland turn off).
  • At Trim Road the highway becomes two lanes. Keep following it until you arrive at the set of traffic lights at the Village of Cumberland.
  • Turn right at the lights on to Cameron Street.
  • Turn left at the stop sign on to Old Montreal Road.
  • Follow Old Montreal for 1.5 km. The museum is on the right hand side of the road.
From Gatineau
  • From Gatineau, Quebec, take the Masson-Cumberland ferry operating all day.
  • Follow Cameron Street to Old Montreal Road. Turn Left.
  • Follow Old Montreal through village for 1.5 km. The museum is on the right.
From Rockland
  • Take Highway 174 W towards Ottawa.
  • Turn left on Old Montreal Road.
  • Follow Old Montreal Road until you reach the museum on the left.
