As part of the City of Ottawa's commitment to improving citizen engagement and enhancing transparency and accountability to its residents, the City provides public access to its data. Open Data is data that is made freely available to the public in machine readable format without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control. The Open Data catalogue, found on ottawa.ca, has grown from its original two dozen data sets to over 60 data sets. Data sets range from live bus arrival data to bicycle counts, water quality testing results, election results, and 311 call volumes.
And just recently the City has introduced a new data portal at data.ottawa.ca, which we will be running in parallel with the current data catalogue for several weeks to allow users to adjust to the new system. We encourage you to explore our data with this new platform, and you can read more about the new site on our OpenData home page.
