Young women learn firefighting skills during Camp FFIT

The media is invited to join Councillor Diane Deans, Chair of the City’s Community and Protective Services Committee, to meet some of the extraordinary young women taking part in Camp FFIT (Female Firefighters in Training).

Camp FFIT provides young women an opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to be a firefighter – including physical fitness, being a team player and possessing a strong work ethic. It also gives young women the self-confidence to explore a career in one of the most reputable public service professions in the world – firefighting.

Date: Thursday, August 24

Time: 10 a.m. to noon.

Location: Ottawa Fire Services Training Division Building, 898 Industrial Avenue

Note: steel-toe shoes are required for everyone participating in this event. Helmet and safety glasses will be provided.

Please check in at the main entrance on the west side of the building, behind the fire hall.
