Beaches

Ottawa’s four beaches are now closed and will reopen again in June 2013.

During beach season:
Lifeguards on duty from noon to 7 pm

  • Volleyball net rentals: $15.00 per hour or $50.00 per day. Inquire at any beach’s Lifeguard office. Available from May 18 to September 2, 2013.
  • Join a volleyball league. Call 613-580-2854
  • Book your event at the beach. Contact City Wide Allocations at 613-580-2595 or e-mail sports@ottawa.ca.

SOUTH
A popular summer destination for swimmers, rowers, and volleyball players, the beach is located on the east shore of the Rideau River just south of Carleton University.

Ottawa’s newest beach offers a wonderful sandy beach and spectacular views across the Ottawa River.

CENTRAL
A somewhat smaller beach and park located on NCC property at Kitchissippi Lookout on the Ottawa River.

  • Washrooms 
  • Free parking
  • Canteen and patio with tables

Stay safe this summer

  • There is no substitute for your supervision!
  • Always be within arms' reach of your children!
  • Drink lots of water, wear light-colored clothing, a hat, and good sunglasses
  • Use waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more at least 30 minutes before sun exposure and remember to keep re-applying.
