Green buildings - City of Ottawa

In recognition of the importance of reducing the environmental footprint of the building sector, the City of Ottawa is supporting, promoting and implementing green building practices. This begins by showing leadership through application of LEED® when building new City Buildings. The City of Ottawa has developed a Green Building Policy to enable new buildings and large scale renovations to be designed, delivered and operated in a more sustainable manner. The policy adopts LEED® Canada standards/practices/guidelines. LEED® Canada is a not for profit rating system that promotes the development of buildings that are both ecologically and fiscally responsible.

The City of Ottawa has a number of City projects using LEED® guidelines set out by the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) and includes some ‘Green Roof’ projects listed below.
