The Parkdale Market was the second market established in Ottawa and remains a public market to this day. Since it launched in 1924 the Parkdale Market has been located in the Hintonburg area. It is on Parkdale Avenue, between Wellington Street West and Armstrong Street.
From May to November, producers sell everything from hanging baskets and fresh herbs to delicious fruit, vegetables and gourds. Local producers are identified by green signs and the Savour Ottawa logo. During the holiday season, vegetables make way for beautiful wreaths and Christmas trees.
The Parkdale Market is open seven days a week from May to November. Open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Individual businesses set their own hours. Hours depend on the weather and vary from stand to stand.
From November 24 to December 24, the Parkdale Market offers Christmas trees and decorations made of natural products.
Parking and transportation
In the summer, take advantage of the free 15-minute parking behind the Parkdale Market to make a quick stop at market stalls. On-street parking is also available around the market.
The Parkdale Market is also easily accessible by public transit or by bicycle.
Vending at the Parkdale Market
The Parkdale Market is open from May to November, as well as during the holiday season. Applications are typically reviewed by an independent selection committee twice a year. Potential vendors may also be granted the opportunity to sell at the market on a trial basis.
