The City of Ottawa’s Arts Centres are destinations for specialty arts programming in arts-specific studios offering the added benefit of specialised facilities and environment.
The Nepean Visual Arts Centre offers specialty arts classes taught by accomplished artists - painters, actors, filmmakers, writers, photographers, musicians - in custom studio spaces for participants of all levels of ability. From preschool to adult, students experience a diversity of arts instruction in a creative and dynamic environment.
Our sister facility - The Nepean Creative Arts Centre offers programming in visual arts as well as performing arts. The NCAC arts-specific studios include music, dance and visual arts studios, a black box theatre and set construction workshop.

The Nepean Visual Arts Centre & Nepean Creative Arts Centre offer arts courses for Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer as well as March Break and Summer Camps. An annual printed guide for Fall, Winter, and Spring is available at some City facilities.
Community arts centres and schools also offer arts programs.
March Break and Summer camps
Experience the arts at an Arts Centre camp this March Break or Summer. Have fun creating while feeding your imagination and making new friends. Join us and experience the arts! An Arts Centre camp delivers focused arts instruction in customised studio spaces by accomplished artists - painters, actors, filmmakers, writers, photographers, musicians. Traditional camp games, outdoor activities and swimming (when specified) are included in our programs. Before and After Care available at no charge.
Arts-specific studios include:
- High quality instruction in studios equipped for arts
- Natural lighting
- Exhibition and performance opportunities
- Pottery handbuilding studio and wheel room with 12 wheels including an accessible wheel
- Glazing (sixteen glazes offered) and firing provided (Note: Participants in pottery programs must provide their own clay and tools. All clay MUST be purchased at the NVAC at a fee per bag. An assortment of clays are available.)
Through a broad range of studio classes and workshops, the NVAC and NCAC serve approximately 4,100 adults and children each year. The Centres provide opportunities for people to express themselves through pottery, painting, photography, drawing, writing, dance, music, drama and wellness programs. It also offers community gallery exhibitions annually, with work by emerging and established artists as well as opportunities for artists and youth artists - Young at Art.
Children’s course fees include supplies. Supply costs for most adult programs are not included in the Adult program fee. Supply requirements or additional fees will be listed on printed course receipts or can be picked-up when registering. Additional modeling fees may apply to some classes.
