Beach Information

Washrooms and rentals available daily at Mooney’s Bay, Petrie Island and Britannia Beaches May 16 - September 7, 2015 inclusively.

    • 10:30 am to 9 pm Monday to Thursday
    • 10:30 am to 7 pm Friday to Sunday

Lifeguards are on duty June 20-August 16, 2015 inclusively

    • Daily Monday to Sunday from noon to 7 pm

Westboro Beach will be open noon to 7 pm daily from June 20 to August 16, 2015.

  • Volleyball net rentals: $15 per hour or $50 per day, stand up paddleboards $20 per hour.
    Inquire at any beach’s Lifeguard office, available from May 16 to September 7, 2015. 
  • Join a volleyball league. Call 613-580-2854

Stand Up Paddleboard Classes

Stand up paddleboard classes are for participants 18 years or older. Classes include Personal Floatation Devices, boards and paddles. Please inform your instructor if you have any health concerns. We recommend participants leave valuables in a safe location.

Stand Up Paddleboard – Introduction

Perfect for new learners, develop efficient paddle strokes, stances and more. Stand solid on your board by the end of the session. Cost: $45 per class.

Rental information

Stand-Up Paddle Boards are available at all four beaches for $20 per hour. Inquire at any beach's lifeguard office during the regular season. Photo ID required. Participants must be 18 years or older. For more information:r beaches.programming@ottawa.ca.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding Frequently Asked Questions 

1. What should I bring to SUP classes?

We provide the Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs). We recommend comfortable clothing that can get wet. Be prepared for the weather (water bottle, sunscreen, hat etc).

2. Can I book a private SUP class?

Yes, we offer private lessons for $55.75 per hour. Please contact beaches.programming@ottawa.ca

3. If it is thunder storming how do I know if my class is cancelled?

The weather can change very quickly on the waterfront. Courses are only cancelled at the start of the class by the instructor on site.

4. What happens if a course is cancelled?

Participants' accounts are prorated for the cancelled class.

Stay safe this summer

  • There is no substitute for your supervision!
  • Always be within arms' reach of your children!
  • Drink lots of water, wear light-colored clothing, a hat, and good sunglasses
  • Use waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more at least 30 minutes before sun exposure and remember to keep re-applying.
