Caregiver Guide

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) adapted the Caregiver Compass with permission from Saint Elizabeth to create the Ottawa Public Health Caregiver Guide. Saint Elizabeth is an agency that has been caring for individuals and families in their homes for over a century. We thank them for sharing their resource with us.
The Ottawa Public Health Caregiver Guide does not give medical advice. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please be advised that all of the information in this resource is provided for informational purposes only.

This guide will help if you are a full-time or part-time caregiver and even if you are caring for a person who lives far away. It will give you tips and ideas to help you care for your loved one and yourself.

Please share your comments at any time by completing a survey found at the end of each section of the guide. Your feedback is important to make sure that we meet your needs and to help shape future changes to this guide.

The Caregiver Guide has five chapters:

Chapter 2: Finding Your Way Through the System

Chapter 3: Caring For You...The Caregiver

Chapter 5: Providing Care at End-of-Life
