Rural event guidelines

Does your event qualify?

To be eligible, an event should:

  • Be organized by a not-for-profit community group or association.
  • Have a strong agricultural or rural focus and/or be primarily directed at residents of rural Ottawa.

Events may include fairs, festivals, leisure activities, fundraisers, public meetings or cultural and recreational events.

Public Consultation on the 2018 Budget

October 3, 2017, 6 to 8 p.m.

Location: Emerald Links Golf

The 2018 budget meeting for Rideau-Goulbourn, Osgoode and Gloucester-South Nepean wards will be on Tuesday, October 3rd in the dining area of the clubhouse at Emerald Links. City Staff will be presenting a slideshow and Councillor Moffatt, Councillor Darouze, and Councillor Qqaish will be available to answer any questions.

Shepherd’s Fashion FUNraiser: Grannies on the Catwalk

October 3, 2017, 6 to 9 p.m.

Location: Shepherd’s Train Yards, 145 Trainyards Drive, Unit 4, Ottawa

Join the Grannies All about Kids group for an elegant wine & cheese event, fashion show and an opportunity to purchase some fabulous outfits!
Grannies All About Kids strives to raise awareness about Africa's grandmothers and their struggle to secure a hopeful and healthy future for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
Our fundraising efforts help to purchase food, school fees and school uniforms for their grandchildren, create income-generating projects, and provide counselling and social
support. We are part of a wider network of over 240 Grandmothers groups across Canada working in collaboration with the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Kids PD-Day Program-Circus School

October 6, 2017, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Location: Osgoode Township Museum, 7814 Lawrence Street, Vernon

Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to join us for a fun-filled day where they will get a taste of what it takes to be in the CIRCUS through, crafts, games and fun activities!!   A theme-based movie will be shown at 3 p.m.  Children should bring their own lunch.

North Gower Farmers’ Market

October 7, 2017, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Harvest Celebration Flower and Vegetable Show in Manotick

Saturday, October 7, 2017 9:30 to 11 a.m.  

Dickinson House, 5525 Dickinson Street, Ottawa

The Manotick Horticultural Society, in partnership with Dickinson House and Watson's MIll, will host a Harvest Flower and Vegetable Show on Saturday October 7. If weather cooperates, the event will take place on the lawn of Dickinson House. If it rains, we will do this indoors in Watson's MIll. This program is open to ALL gardeners! 

Paint’n Perk 2017

October 11, 6:30 to 9 p.m. and October 14, 9 a.m. to noon

Location: 7814 Lawrence Street, Vernon

Local artist Susan Bruner of Bruner Brushstrokes is now hosting PAINT & PERK, a series of monthly painting workshops at the Osgoode Township Museum!  The workshops are offered twice a month:  Wednesday evenings, from 6:30pm until 9pm, and Saturday Mornings, from 9:30am until Noon.  A different painting will be featured every month, and all participants will create their own rendition of the painting to take home!

Adult Trivia Night at the Greely Legion

October 13, 2017 starting at 7 p.m.

Location: The Greely Legion, 8021 Mitch Owens Road

Registration is now open for a night of fun at the Greely Legion with Trivia Master Connie Johnston!  This event is a fundraiser in support of the Osgoode Township Museum, so please help spread the word, and support a great community cause!

Household Hazardous Waste

October 28, 2017 9:00am

Location: Strandherd at McKenna Casey

Household hazardous waste does not belong in waste collection vehicles or landfills. In providing mobile depots to collect hazardous waste, the City of Ottawa is protecting both the environment and the health and safety of waste collection workers. The mobile depots will complement existing programs administered by retailers to collect specific types of household hazardous waste material on an ongoing basis.
