Youth and Student Employment Services

Employment resource centres for youth

There are two youth employment resource centres offering a wide range of services:

  • Youth Zone Jeunesse
  • Youth Employment Services of Centretown and East

Some of the programs have eligibility requirements and are for all Ottawa youth. Programs are funded by the provincial Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.

The centres are available to youth of all ages and backgrounds. For Job Connect employment counselling and placement services, youth must be Ontario residents, 16-24 years of age, out of full time work and school, and not eligible for Employment Insurance or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board benefits.

An array of free employment services for youth is offered. Any young person can access staffed resource rooms with everything needed for individual job search such as job postings, Internet access, computer and fax use, career planning and educational resources.

Students looking for summer work can call the centre beginning in March.

Those meeting the eligibility requirements can access additional employment counselling services, resumé preparation, interest testing, interview preparation and job-search advice. You can take employment-related workshops.
