Rural connections

Rural Ottawa includes the geographic townships of Fitzroy, Huntley and Torbolton (amalgamated as West Carleton in 1974), Marlborough and North Gower (amalgamated as Rideau in 1974), Osgoode, and rural Goulbourn, as well as rural portions of the former cities of Kanata, Nepean, Cumberland and Gloucester. Forty per cent of rural Ottawa is farmland.
