Hot weather can cause serious illnesses and even death. During the 2003 heat wave in Europe, it is estimated that 1000 people died in Paris alone as a direct result. Paramedics urge you to create a hot weather emergency plan for you and your family. You have probably talked with your family about a fire plan for your household. From the opening of cooling centres, to the delivery of drinking water, emergency officials are ready to help all residents, especially those at high risk, including senior citizens, children, people with cardiac and respiratory illnesses, and people who have been prescribed certain medication.
