The new City of Ottawa Zoning By-law was enacted June 25, 2008. Notice of passage of Zoning By-law 2008-250 was provided in two dailies, the Ottawa Citizen and Le Droit on June 27, 2008. Individual notice was also mailed to all stakeholders who participated in the consultation process. During the appeal period, ending July 17, 2008, sixty-six appeals were received and are now before the Ontario Municipal Board. The process is expected to extend through mid 2009.

Transition Provisions

The Zoning By-law was enacted June 25, 2008. The Ontario Municipal Board approved the unchallenged provisions of the by-law on October 23, 2008. For those provisions under appeal, the corresponding provisions of the former municipalities’ zoning by-laws will continue to be in effect and the more restrictive provisions within any of the by-laws will apply.
