Community Network

Are you, your friends and neighbours in the community prepared in the event of an emergency or disaster – such as floods, severe weather, and blackouts?

The better-prepared people are for an emergency, the better the City can respond to that emergency. That’s why the City of Ottawa has the Are You Ready Program – which is tailor-made for Ottawa’s diverse needs of a multicultural community.

The program utilizes a grass-root network of community leaders, agencies and individuals that help deliver emergency preparedness workshops – raising awareness with resident on how they can prepare themselves for an emergency. City of Ottawa emergency preparedness experts train the volunteers for the workshops.

The program’s objectives are:

  • Educating the community on emergency planning
  • Raising awareness on how to prepare for an emergency
  • Increasing individual self-reliance in times of emergency

If you want to get information materials on emergency preparedness or inquire about booking a workshop for your community group, contact Nathalie Rochefort, the City’s Office of Emergency Management at 613-580-2424, extension 28078, or by e-mail at Nathalie.rochefort@ottawa.ca.
