Alliance to End Homelessness


The Alliance to End Homelessness is a broad-based community-led initiative aimed at ending homelessness in Ottawa. The Alliance to End Homelessness brings together community groups, individuals - including homeless persons, governments and the private and voluntary sectors to address the problems of homelessness in Ottawa-Carleton.

Vision:

The Alliance to End Homelessness envisions an inclusive community that takes responsibility for ending homelessness by ensuring that everyone has the right and support to define, access and sustain housing of their choice.

A home for every citizen of Ottawa.

Goals

  • To promote more affordable housing
  • To include homeless people in the work of the Alliance
  • To increase public awareness and understanding through education for different audiences
  • To support, monitor, and advocate for research on the causes of homelessness and effective interventions
  • To promote and support the most effective intervention and prevention strategies
  • To identify, monitor and respond to system-wide changes that have an impact on homelessness
  • To achieve greater recognition from municipal and provincial bodies
  • To strengthen relationships with similar local and national groups

What We Are Doing

  • Coordinating services to prevent homelessness and help people get out of the homelessness cycle
  • Informing the public about the problems and solutions to homelessness
  • Researching to learn what needs to be done better

The Alliance to End Homelessness welcomes new members and volunteers. We particularly need you if you have ever been homeless yourself. Let's make sure everyone has a home!
