What are Pay and Display Machines?

Stemming from the latest technology in parking meters, Pay and Display machines were installed at on-street parking spaces in the Byward Market and in several municipally operated parking facilities.

Pay and Display machines are very easy to use. Like a parking meter, you insert your estimated parking fee into the machine. You can pay for parking using cash ($0.25, $1 or $2 coins), major credit cards and the City of Ottawa Parking Card at nearly every Pay and Display station. Once you have inserted your payment, the machine will dispense a ticket that you must display, face-up on your dashboard. The ticket identifies your time allotted for parking based on the payment that you made.

Please note: Prior to making your payment, look for the hours of operation displayed on the machine and the signed maximum time allowed for parking in the area. This will allow you to make the proper payment for your desired time.

How do they work?
