The history of 541 Sussex is rich. It has housed the MacArthur British Hotel, military barracks rented by Sir John A. Macdonald, Clarendon House (hotel), The Department of Technical Survey, Natural History Museum, The Canadian Academy of Arts (which later became the National Gallery of Canada), The Canadian Geological Survey, a hospital during typhoid fever, and now McMillan Agency (as of 1998).
