The City of Ottawa would like to thank you for your ongoing cooperation and patience during construction. When complete, the Hospital Link will provide a connection from Riverside Drive and Transitway to Hospital Ring Road. This link is needed to improve transit services and support ongoing hospital and local development.
This notice is to advise you of construction work directly in front of 1725 Riverside Drive that will impact access to the building as a new cul-de-sac is built.
Who: The contractor, Ottawa Greenbelt Construction, and their sub-contractors, are performing the construction work for the City of Ottawa.
Why: The City of Ottawa is carrying out the construction of Hospital Link Road to improve transit services and support ongoing hospital and local development. As part of the work, Old Riverside Drive was cut off at the Hospital Link Road in front of 1725 Riverside Drive and the dead-end will be formalized into a cul-de-sac.
What: The work will commence by trenching for a new streetlight conduit. Then, the asphalt surface and older portions of the curb and sidewalk directly in front of 1725 Riverside Drive will be removed. The roadway surface will be granular material until the work is complete. New granular material will be brought in and placed to widen the roadway towards the Transitway. New concrete sidewalk and curb will be constructed. When the roadway base, new sidewalk and streetlight base are complete, the new cul-de-sac will be repaved with asphalt. New fencing will be installed between the cul-de-sac and the Transitway.
When: The work has already commenced to install the new streetlight conduit. It is anticipated the roadway excavation and grading work will commence during the week of October 23, 2017. The construction of the new cul-de-sac is anticipated to take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete.
Where: Old Riverside Drive between Frobisher Lane and the new Hospital Link Road.
Accessibility is an important priority for the City of Ottawa. Should you require specific accommodations, please contact the undersigned.
Access to 1725 Riverside Drive
The contractor will endeavour to maintain access to the property at all times. Short term disruptions may be experienced similar to traveling on a roadway under construction where traffic control flagmen are present. Should the need to close down access for longer durations, such disruptions will be scheduled during off-peak times and 24-hour advance notice will be provided.
