Built as a car dealership in 1960, 1404 Scott Street was converted to office space in 1980 and has been owned by WUSC (World University Service of Canada) since 1983. WUSC is a Canadian non-profit global development organization, started in the 1920s, which works to improve education, economic opportunities, and empowerment for young people around the world. The space at 1404 Scott is currently shared with three other non-profit organizations: Farm Radio International; National Association of Women and the Law; and the Douglas Coldwell Layton Foundation.
Unique in its positioning within the densely populated residential area of Hintonburg, 1404 Scott Street fronts Scott to the North and occupies one residential city block between Merton Street and Phiney Street.
1404 Scott is a building that many have walked past but few have entered. We would like to change this by participating in Doors Open Ottawa 2023! We invite residents of Ottawa to come and see the interior of the building; meet the people that work here; and learn about the valuable and impactful work that WUSC, Farm Radio International, National Association of Women and the Law, and the Douglas Coldwell Layton Foundation do in Canada and around the world.
