Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt)

Welcome to TROtt! The Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt) is the capital region’s only therapeutic riding facility accredited by the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA). TROtt has provided therapeutic riding lessons and equine-assisted programming for children and adults with physical, developmental and learning disabilities for 50 years.

TROtt is situated on over 20 acres of beautiful pasture and trails with a fully accessible facility. Our barn contains 13 box stalls to care for and shelter our wonderful herd of horses. In addition, our large, well-lit, insulated and heated indoor arena provides a safe and calm environment for lessons. The arena includes a heated viewing area for parents and guests, as well as a classroom for additional programming. The arena footing is a rubber crumb and sand mix that allows for a more stable surface for individuals with a variety of disabilities. The outdoor arena and grass fields are a favourite spot for lessons in the summer.

As a registered not-for-profit organization, TROtt is fully dependent on the generous donors and sponsors in our community.

We welcome you to come visit our facility and learn more about us.

This Year for Doors Open Ottawa:

This year marks a significant milestone for the Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt) as we celebrate 50 years of delivering high-quality therapeutic riding and other equine-assisted programs to individuals with various disabilities. TROtt is a registered charity and Ottawa’s only therapeutic riding facility accredited by the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA).

Our accessible facility sits on 20 acres of picturesque fields and woods. The barn has 13 box stalls for our special horses. Our spacious, well-lit, insulated, and heated indoor arena provides a safe and serene environment for lessons. An adjacent, heated viewing area overlooks the arena. We have a smaller building for hosting many of our ground-based programs. During summer, the outdoor arena and grass fields are popular locations for lessons.
