Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study

The City of Ottawa has initiated the Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study, between Highway 417 and the Rideau Canal.
The Official Plan designates Bank Street as a Mainstreet and Transit Priority Corridor, an Arterial Road and a Design Priority Area.
The study will consult with the general public and stakeholders to examine options to improve transit service efficiency and reliability along the corridor, investigate opportunities to improve the travel environment for active transportation modes, undertake an assessment of impacts and trade-offs, identify a potential pilot project for early implementation and identify costs for potential implementation.

The City is looking for your feedback on the design of a new Park located in Richmond Village. The New Park will be generally southwest of Meynell and Ottawa Street West. The Park will have frontage on two future streets: Checkerspot Avenue and Pearly Everlasting Crescent.

Frank Ryan Park Community Building Renewal

Residents are invited to participate in a public meeting to review the concept plans for the replacement of the Frank Ryan Park Field house on Monday, January 22, from 7:00-9:00p.m. The meeting participation is through Teams. A presentation will be followed by a questions and answer session.
After the community meeting, residents will have an opportunity to provide feedback during the comments period that will be open for 2 weeks (January 24- February 7). Documents from the presentation will be available in the ‘Documents’ folder on the right. Please provide comments prior to February 7, 2024.

Kanata North Nuisance Mosquito Control Program

On December 6, 2023, Ottawa City Council approved a community-wide vote to determine support for the continuation of the Kanata North Nuisance Mosquito Control Program.
The proposed continuation of the Kanata North Nuisance Mosquito Control Program would take place from 2024 until 2027. The City of Ottawa has evaluated results from a request for proposals and GDG Environment has again been selected to administer the program. The continuation of this program would be funded by a special-area levy on your annual property tax bill.
Property owners in Ward 4 (Kanata North) will receive an information package in the mail from the City with background information on the program and the online voting process.

Urban Expansion in Future Neighbourhoods

The City of Ottawa is growing through the expansion and creation of new neighbourhoods across the City.
In late 2022, The Province and City approved the new Official Plan(External link) that identified new growth areas to accommodate new housing, industry, businesses, parks and cultural assets.
Each of these areas will undergo a planning process in keeping with the guidelines for new plan development. This includes environmental, engineering and related background studies, context specific information and public engagement. As each plan area has its own challenges and opportunities, terms of reference have been created to ensure appropriate and sufficient information is gathered to plan each area sensitive to the surrounding neighbourhoods, contexts and to ensure each area is in keeping with the larger goals of the Official Plan.

Metric Park - new park development

The City of Ottawa is seeking your input regarding the design of a forthcoming neighbourhood park. This new park will be situated within the Trail View Subdivision (950 Terry Fox Drive) in Stittsville and is labeled as Park No. 9 in the Fernbank Community Design Plan. Despite being referred to as Metric Park, the park's official name will be determined through the Commemorative Naming process.

The City of Ottawa offers many recreational services to encourage residents to keep active and healthy. Currently, residents can participate in activities like swimming, skating, weights and cardio, aquafitness and group fitness classes in more than 20 recreation facilities.
To ensure residents are paying fair costs for the services they are accessing, the City is reviewing its model for memberships and admissions. Recreation services can be accessed by paying a drop-in admission fee, by purchasing a membership or by buying a multi-visit pass.

- Rideau Canal Cultural Landscape Study
- Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a national historic site of Canada, and a Canadian heritage river, the Rideau Canal is one of the defining features of the National Capital Region. Residents and visitors alike cherish the beauty and recreational opportunities this waterway brings to the city. There is no question that the Rideau Canal is one of the most iconic symbols of our city. There is also no question that it is a source of recreation, transportation, history and more for both residents and visitors. So, how can the caretakers of both the canal and the land that surrounds it ensure that the Rideau Canal continues to be a valuable resource for generations to come? That’s the question being asked by the City of Ottawa, the National Capital Commission and Parks Canada through the Rideau Canal Cultural Landscape Study.
- Strathcona Park - play structure replacement
- The City of Ottawa is looking for your feedback on three concepts for the new play equipment at Strathcona Park. The existing junior play structure and equipment have surpassed their intended service life. The playground needs to be replaced “like-for-like” to respond to the play needs of the neighboring residents and to comply with the City’s accessibility requirements.

Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe Strategy

MTAC currently operates under a mandate that was established by the former City of Nepean in 1987, thus not reflective of the current theatre landscape, community and audience needs and the emerging technologies utilized to operate the theatres. As such, the City of Ottawa has identified a need for MTAC to establish and update strategic priorities, providing clear operational direction for the theatres.
Following an evaluation of the current operating model and consultations with stakeholders, an updated mandate and a 5-year strategic plan will be developed to establish a clear direction and delivery model for MTAC.

- Silverbirch Park playground lifecycle replacement
- The City is looking for input on the new play equipment being proposed to replace the existing play equipment at Silverbirch Park, located at 6105 Silverbirch St. in Ward 19. The community is invited to identify their preferred option and to provide comments on the proposed equipment.
- Pineglen Park
- The City is looking for input on the new play equipment being proposed to replace the existing play equipment at Pineglen Park, located at 22 Brisbane Road in Ward 9. The community is invited to identify their preferred option and to provide comments on the proposed equipment.
- Outdoor Tennis and Pickleball Strategy

Pickleball is currently the fastest growing sport in North America. As such, demand for court space is steadily increasing across Ottawa, while tennis continues to be a well-loved sport in our community.
The City has identified the need for an outdoor tennis and pickleball strategy, which will ensure that communities across Ottawa have access to both sports. The strategy will also serve as a reference guide for future management, oversight, and development of all public and club-operated outdoor tennis and pickleball courts.
Currently the City operates over 500 outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, including combination courts (shared tennis and pickleball lines), single sport courts and municipal membership club courts.
Following an evaluation of the current public court model, the strategy will identify a clear direction and delivery model for both outdoor tennis and pickleball across the city of Ottawa.

St.Luke's Park Basketball Court
- The City of Ottawa is seeking input on concept plans prepared for the lifecycle replacement of the basketball court in St.Luke’s Park.
- Meadowbreeze Park playstructure replacement
- The City is looking for input on the new play equipment being proposed to replace the existing play equipment at Meadowbreeze Park, located at 98 Meadowbreeze Drive in Ward 23. The community is invited to identify their preferred option and to provide comments on the proposed equipment.
- Jock River North District Park, Barrhaven: New Park Development
- The City is looking for input on a new park development project along the north side of the Jock River in Barrhaven, Ward 3 (municipal address: 2393 Longfields Drive). The community is invited to review the Proposed Amenity and Layout Plan and to provide comments. This consultation is the first of two consultations; it is aimed at providing an opportunity to provide comments on the types of amenities that are being proposed in the park and to collect suggestions for other potential amenities.
- Tewin Community Design Plan and Secondary Plan
- Through the approval of the new Official Plan (OP), 14 areas were added to the urban area to accommodate both residential and industrial growth. This included an 800 gross hectares (445.35 net developable hectares) area for a future suburban community known as Tewin in the southeast area of the city.
- Centrepointe Disc Golf Course
- The City of Ottawa is looking into the feasibility of building a disc golf course in Centrepointe Park. We are currently in the preliminary stages of the project and would like to take this opportunity to provide information and a hands-on disc golf experience to residents.
- Parthia Park - Play Structure Replacement
- The City is looking for your feedback on two concepts for new play equipment in Parthia Park in Nepean. The existing junior play structure and equipment have surpassed their intended service life. The play equipment must be replaced to meet current safety and Accessibility standards. Other park amenities will be untouched. Construction is expected in summer of 2024.
- Alcide Trudeau Park (Vars) - Pathway Replacement Project
- The pathways in the park are approx. 1.5m wide. The pathways appear to be original to the parks construction and are definitely showing their age and significant signs of deterioration. The need for a full pathway reconstruction is warranted. The new pathways are to be medium duty with a 2m width. An approximate total of 450 linear meters are slated for replacement.
- Houlahan Park
- The City of Ottawa is seeking input on concept plans prepared for the lifecycle replacement of the junior playground equipment in Houlahan Park.
- Temporary off-leash dog park in Alta Vista
- Councillor Carr’s Office along with the City of Ottawa’s Recreational, Cultural and Facility Planning Department would like to get your thoughts on a potential temporary off-leash dog park in the Alta Vista neighbourhood.
- New Zoning By-law
- The City of Ottawa is developing a new comprehensive Zoning By-law for approval by Council in 2025. The by-law will implement the policies and directions in the new Official Plan.

Echo Park is an existing park located south of Manotick at 6698 Marina Drive, Ward 21 (Rideau-Goulbourn). The project proposes the addition of a single tennis court to the park. Additionally, a park bench and a new pathway link will provide access the tennis court.

Queensview Drive was identified as a Cycling Project in the Transportation Master Plan Part 1, Active Transportation Projects. It is categorized as a Pavement Markings and Signage Project. The objective of this project is to enhance cycling safety, access to destinations on Queensview, and connectivity to and from the future transit stations.

- The City of Ottawa is developing new comprehensive Urban Design Guidelines for Low-rise Infill Housing for approval by Council in 2023. The Guidelines will reflect the policies and directions in the new Official Plan adopted by Council in October 2021.
- Lansdowne 2.0
- Lansdowne is a place of history and civic pride. For over 175 years, it has been a gathering place for neighbours, residents of Eastern Ontario and Western Québec, and for tourists from across Canada and around the world. It is a place of connection and celebration for sports, cultural and community events. In 2012, City Council entered into a 30-year partnership (now a 40-year partnership) with the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) for the renewal and revitalization of Lansdowne with a new South Stadium Stands, new mixed-use retail and reimagined public realm spaces and subterranean parking.
- Lincoln Fields Secondary Plan
- The purpose of this study is to prepare a Secondary Plan to guide future development in the Lincoln Fields Station Area that compliments the City’s newly adopted Official Plan. The main objective of the study and the secondary plan is to facilitate a more urbanized place that helps meet the City’s intensification targets and strategically locate density in proximity to the future Lincoln Fields O-Train Station.
