Consultation Results

Thank you to everyone who provided their input on the play equipment style options for Hawkeswood Park. We heard from 33 residents, with more than 60 percent preferring the neighbourhood theme.

We have carefully considered all suggestions for the park. The final park concept plan includes the following:

  • Adding more trees throughout the park, including along the west side of the park next to the existing home;
  • Retaining an existing boulder next to Summerhill Street; and
  • Providing playground equipment based on the neighbourhood theme.

The potential to add a parent-and-child swing to the playground will be explored later if it can be accommodated within the project budget.

Since there is already a splash pad at the nearby Summerhill Park and a splash pad planned for the nearby Atrium Park, we will not add a splash pad to this park.

Some residents inquired if a walkway will be constructed to connect Rosina Way to the park. Please note that the approved subdivision plan does not provide for a walkway block connection to the park.

Hawkeswood Park

The City is looking for your help to design a new park in Riverside South. Hawkeswood Park would be a 0.4- hectare park at the southwest corner of Hawkeswood Drive and Summerhill Street.

There will be a two-step public consultation process for the park. For step one, we are requesting public input to choose a style for the playground equipment. Two style options are proposed, one on a theme of public services and one on a theme of neighbourhood.

Find preliminary park concepts and representative images of playground equipment for each option in the Document Library to the right. Then take the survey below to tell us your preferences.

After we identify the preferred option, the landscape architect will prepare a final concept plan that includes a playground design. We will share that concept plan and images of the proposed playground equipment on Engage Ottawa, launching step two of the public consultation process.
