As part of the Stage 2 O-Train LRT Project for the Trillium Line South Extension, overnight work will be required to facilitate the clearing of trees between the future Gladstone Station and Bayview Station. TransitNEXT crews will be conducting this work on a few nights at each location when the O-Train Line 2 is not operating.
WHAT: Overnight tree clearing will take place to prepare for the construction of new stations and the expansion of existing stations along the existing O-Train Line 2.
WHEN: The tree clearing work will take place during the months of January through April between the hours of 12:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday to Friday. The work will take place at night so that O-Train Line 2 service during the day is maintained.
WHY: The trees alongside the active O-Train Line 2 transit corridor will be removed in preparation for the Trillium Line South Extension.
WHERE: The work will take place at various locations along the transit corridor between the future Gladstone Station (close to Gladstone Avenue and Loretta Avenue North) and Bayview Station. Please see the diagrams below for the approximate tree clearance locations.
PEDESTRIAN & CYCLING IMPACTS
Temporary pedestrian detours may be required in some areas. Signage will be erected in locations where detours may be required. Minimal impacts to cyclists are expected.
No traffic impacts are expected.
RESIDENTIAL & BUSINESS IMPACTS
Expect noise disturbances during the time of work. The trucks on site have each been retrofitted with a white noise back-up system to reduce noise impacts. Temporary construction lighting will be directed towards the work areas to minimize light pollution.
