William Bradley Park

Project Status:
Underway

Overview

William Bradley Park is a new .34 hectares accessible park on gently rolling terrain located on Porter Street in Stittsville. The park includes active and passive play areas, swings, and an asphalt pathway loop with seating and bicycle parking.

Concept Plans

There are two options for active play for the community to choose from: an adult fitness area; or children’s play structure. An existing vegetative buffer along the southeast of the property complements generous tree planting for shade and visual buffering. The following concept plans and images depict the two options:

Construction update - June 2019

William Bradley Park, 22 Porter, is scheduled for construction summer 2019.

This park went to public consultation in early 2018. As a result of the public input the importance of naturalization plantings to the community emerged and were included in the park plans.

The project was tendered this spring and bid results are higher than expected. In an effort to provide the local residents with a gathering space and play area the naturalization plantings have been removed from the main contract.

Parks planning will continue to work outside of the main developers contract and with City Forestry to implement naturalization planting fall 2019 or spring 2020.
