Kitchissippi Parking Strategy – Westboro and Wellington West

  • The Strategy: a coordinated approach to solving parking problems across several neighbourhoods within Kitchissippi Ward. Goals: to consult widely; collect, study, and share comprehensive data on usage; develop a strategy to reduce parking pressures over time. 
  • Partners: City of Ottawa Parking Services, Westboro Village BIA, Wellington West BIA, Kitchissippi Community Associations, and the office of Ward Councillor Jeff Leiper.
  • Area: the entire 3.5 km long “traditional mainstreet” corridor from Golden Avenue to the O-Train Tracks. This includes, 1) Westboro Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) and 2) Wellington West BIA.
  • Timing: Ongoing. Overall strategy to be presented to Transportation Committee spring 2016.

 Part 1: Westboro Local Area Parking Study

The first part of this study was launched in 2011 with a full report and recommendations presented to City Council in 2013 (links below). A follow-up set of data was collected in 2014, which forms the basis for the current strategy.

Part 2: Wellington West Local Area Parking Study

The area east of Island Park Drive has been the focus of a Local Area Parking Study since early in 2015. This has involved comprehensive data collection and an on-going consultation process.
