The City of Ottawa invites you to attend the first (out of three) drop-in public information sessions for the Montreal Road revitalization project. The purpose of the meeting will be to recap the recommendations outlined in the Montreal Road functional planning study (completed June 2017) and present road plans depicting improvements for Montreal Road (North River Road to St Laurent Boulevard) as well as North River Road (Montreal Road to the north cul-de-sac). Staff will be present to provide information and receive comments.
Who: The City of Ottawa retained Robinson Consultants to develop conceptual, preliminary and detailed design drawings for this project. The design drawings are primarily based on recommendations and conclusions obtained from the Montreal Road functional planning study, which was completed in the summer of 2017.
Why: The vision for the project is for Montreal Road to become a welcoming, livable main street where residents and businesses thrive. The goal of the revitalization is to create a designation and enhance quality of life by providing safe, comfortable and easy access for everyone. The complete street approach to the design will provide a well-balanced and connected transportation corridor where streets are safe, with vibrant public spaces that connect people to the places where they live, work and play.
What: The Montreal Road work will include the reconstruction of the existing watermain, sewer spot repairs, road reconstruction including sidewalks and raised cycle tracks, and implementation of streetscaping features. North River Road work will include the reconstruction of the existing watermain, sanitary sewers and road.
When: This project is planned for construction commencing in the spring of 2019, pending all approvals.
Where: The 2 kilometre section of Montreal Road from North River Road to St. Laurent Boulevard and the 500 metre section of North River Road from Montreal Road to the North River cul-de-sac.
