The Ottawa Drowning Prevention Coalition, which includes many City stakeholders, is hosting an event to mark the beginning of the summer season and to remind residents about backyard pool safety. Updated drowning statistics and key water safety messages will be addressed. The Coalition is pleased to announce that the City of Ottawa’s Building Code Services Branch has joined our group and an overview of the current Pool Enclosure By-Law (2013-39) will be presented. Join us!
Guest speakers will include Barbara Byers, Public Education Director – Ontario Lifesaving Society; Wendy Schultenkamper, Technical Director – Lifesaving Society Canada; and Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner.
