Each year, musicians are asked to submit songs for the City’s Music on Hold program and we annually choose 25 to play on our telephone systems when residents call 3-1-1. What happens with all those other great entries? We make an awesome playlist out of them, of course!

Check out City Sounds and enjoy local music while you do just about anything. These 62 tracks represent a wide range of musical styles but they all have one thing in common. The music was made right here. By Ottawa artists!

"There are so many hidden and well-known pockets of talent across the Ottawa region,” said #ottmusic committee member and musician Amanda Lowe Warnakulasuriya. “And I'm happy to see established artists like Scary Bear Soundtrack on the same list as emerging talent such as the New Poetics!"

New Poetics

Fellow committee member Jeff Homère, also known by his stage name, LeFLOFRANCO, agreed. "I've said it before and I'll say it again; talented artists and musicians are definitely NOT what's missing in the nation's capital! Seeing artists such as Asuquomo and Charles Cleyn get the exposure they so deserve is very exciting!"

Discover the strength and diversity of Ottawa's music scene and listen wherever and whenever you want! City Sounds is part of the City’s Music Strategy which supports Ottawa’s growing music industry and promotes local musicians through programs such as #ottmusic.

Interested in submitting an application for #ottmusic programs? Calls to artists are usually made early in the year and will be featured on the #ottmusic page.
