Feature Stories

The 2021 call to musicians for the #ottmusic Music on Hold and City Sounds programs is now open.

For 2021, the City is adding an additional 10 songs for Music on Hold. This program offers a far-reaching platform for local musicians to introduce and share their music with a wider audience. Selected songs will be added to the City’s phone system, giving residents the chance to hear great local music when they are on hold with 3-1-1. Traditionally we have had 25 songs in the rotation for Music on Hold but the City wanted to expand the program knowing how difficult the last year has been for our local musicians.

For the second year, we are also accepting music for our City Sounds playlist. City Sounds is a compilation of all the entries we receive packaged into one nifty, all-local playlist. What better way to work, exercise or relax than with the sounds of Ottawa? Here is our 2020 version.

Local musicians can apply until Monday, March 29 to have their music played for residents on hold with 3-1-1 and to have their songs considered for the City Sounds playlist.
