O’Connor Street will be closed to motorists between Laurier Avenue and Somerset Street from Monday, January 22 to Friday, March 2. The closure is required to allow Bell to reconstruct manholes on the west side of O’Connor Street at the intersections of Gloucester, Nepean, Lisgar and Cooper Streets.
There will be signed detours in place to direct motorists around the closure via Laurier Avenue, Elgin Street, and Somerset West to O’Connor.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and plan alternative routes.
Existing parking restrictions along Laurier, Elgin and Somerset will remain in effect and “no stopping” signage will be in place on O’Connor, Gloucester, Nepean, Lisgar and Cooper to accommodate construction and local access. By-law & Regulatory Services will have an increased presence in the detour area and will enforce the applicable provisions of the Traffic and Parking By-law accordingly.
The cycling lanes will remain open. Cyclists and pedestrians will have access throughout the closure. However, there will be intermittent closures of the sidewalk on the west side of the road.
Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.
