Water and wastewater networks

GATS is responsible for the daily maintenance of both the water distribution system and the sanitary and storm collection systems across the entire City of Ottawa within an enterprise GIS. This data is used by the operating groups and various departments for maintenance purposes, planning and renewal.

Currently, there are two map products available: Water Distribution System, and the Sanitary and Storm Collection Systems. These are indexed maps depicting the locations and associated details of the infrastructure networks at scales of 1:2500.

Water distribution system maps (1:2500)

These maps depict the locations of watermains, hydrants, valves, and their associated details, across the entire distribution system. Please refer to the index map for water distribution to request the coordinating sheet(s) to cover your area of interest.

Sanitary and storm collection system maps (1:2500)

These maps depict the locations and flow of sanitary and storm pipes, manholes, and their associated details across the entire collection system. Please refer to the index map for sanitary and storm collection to request the coordinating sheet(s) to cover your area of interest.

Water distribution and wastewater collection systems - interactive map

You can review the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Systems interactive map for information that includes the locations of watermains, hydrants, valves, manholes, pipes, inlets/outlets, associated facilities, and related details.

Catch basin locator map

The City of Ottawa has over 100,000 catch basins to provide drainage to our roadways and greenspaces.

As a critical component of the city storm collection system, keeping catch basins clear of debris (leaves, ice, snow, etc.) is important. Find the location of your nearest catch basin using the interactive map and help keep our system operating effectively.

Please refer to the fee schedule to request a Water or Sewer Distribution/Collection System plan.
