Overview

The Trillium Line South extension is one of the three major extensions to Ottawa’s light rail transit system. This extension will see the Trillium Line continue from Greenboro Station to Limebank Road in Riverside South, along with a link to the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.

Highlights

• Construction of two new stations and the extension of five station platforms on the existing Trillium Line to accommodate longer trains with additional capacity.
• Four new stations along the new extension and two new stations along the 4-kilometre Airport Link.
• Construction of a new Walkley Yard Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF).
• Delivery of new municipal infrastructure, including two new pedestrian bridges to improve connectivity along the alignment through multiuse pathways (MUPs).
• Maintenance of both the existing Trillium Line and the extension for 27 years.

Extension Description

The Trillium Line extension includes eight new stations and sixteen additional kilometres of track from Greenboro to Limebank in Riverside South, with passing tracks at South Keys and double tracked south of Leitrim to Limebank Road. The proposed plan would essentially extend the City’s LRT reach to Limebank Road in Riverside South, bringing southern communities such as Manotick, Findlay Creek, Greely and Osgoode much closer to this high quality transit service. The overall alignment for the most part follows the existing CPR alignment up to Earl Armstrong Road where it curves west to Limebank Road.

The extension of the Trillium Line, new stations and structures for grade separation will allow for future conversion to twin-track electric LRT and will be built to accommodate the planned widening of both the Airport Parkway and Lester Road.
